Huge new turbine. 2012John Worden of Rexon Cross has allowed an application to be submitted to erect a wind turbine on his land near Roadford dam.It is hard to grasp just how huge this turbine will be. 72m is the height of a 24-storey tower block. The structure at the top of the tower, from nose cone to the back of the nacelle, is the size of a bus, 12m. It will dominate the landscape for miles around. South West Water's holiday village will be only 400m downwind from this big turbine, so some sleepless nights there. The picture is of a 65m turbine. The new one will be 10% taller.
